Our Vision & Technology

Kuiper AutonomI

A Unique, Modular Platform

Everything we build sits on three layers: the architecture and platform, light-weight foundation models, and operation-specific solutions.

Layer 1 — the architecture

A decision-making architecture — Collaborative Autonomy — that keeps the operator in command while the machine takes on as much of the work as it has earned, and the platform that makes it usable in the field.

Layer 2 — the light-weight foundation models

The perception and prediction the architecture reasons over, architected from the basic math and trained by us. Light-weight is a requirement, not a compromise: they run on-device, through the connectivity a working site actually has — which in the forest is frequently none.

Layer 3 — the operation-specific solutions

Where an operator meets the stack, and deliberately narrow: each solution is built for a specific job, on a specific class of machine, in specific conditions. The narrowness is at the top only — every solution stands on the same two layers.

The reliable platform to bring autonomy to the machines already in the field

End-to-end proprietary AI system

A system-of-systems design, owned from the math up.

  • Genuinely complex — and ours end to end.
  • Efficient design for on-device, edge AI: efficient enough to run on the machine itself.
  • Designed from the start for the operation of heavy machines.

A scalable pathway to autonomy

Not another isolated machine feature.

  • Starts as a suggestive co-planner, with minimal hardware changes.
  • Scales to advanced autonomy on the same architecture.
  • Meets our customers where they are.

We think this is the only credible path to full autonomy in heavy machines, because it is the safe path and the fast one at once. Authority never leaves the seat, so trust is granted a step at a time rather than assumed up front — and the system is deployable from day one, so it earns real evidence on real machines instead of waiting on a validation milestone that never arrives. Full autonomy is not a switch we are waiting to flip; it is the far end of a dial our customers turn.

The research underneath

Kuiper is a McGill spin-off, and this architecture is the outcome of years of shared autonomy and human-in-the-loop system research, published and reviewed, now built into a product.

One Powerful Platform, Countless Heavy Machines, Across Different Applications

We are entering through the forestry industry, where the need is urgent.
